Ana Sánchez-Forner

What do you do and how would you describe your work?

Painting – colourful, vibrant, nature inspired and portraits. I love the sensuality of strokes and marks of oil paint on canvas, as well as the subtlety and poetry of watercolours, with the random and surprising effects it creates with a light touch. I choose my medium depending on the message/feeling I want to convey for each specific painting.

What are the materials/equipment you use?

Whether it’s oils or watercolours I always use artist quality materials as I find the pigments give a more vibrant and pure colour as that’s very important for me.

Where does your inspiration come from?

Mainly nature, people, landscapes… light and water are a source of inspiration.

Artists who inspire me are varied, and this list is by no means exhaustive: Vincent Van Gogh, Joaquín Sorolla, Fritz Thaulow, Emil Nolde, Claude Monet, Paula Rego, Lucian Freud, Gustav Klimt… to name just a few.

How does it feel being part of the Arts Central community?

It provides a space for my work, with the added bonus of having other artists nearby.
